Yesterday, State Labor Commissioner Mark Costello was fatally stabbed in Oklahoma City. We at Southern Machine extend our heart felt condolences to Mark’s family during this trying time.
During Mark’s first term as State Labor Commissioner he visited Southern Machine while touring the southwest part of the state. We will always remember the wonderful things he said about our employees and our facility. Frank Burch, Vice-President of Southern Machine, still has the signed fifty trillion dollar note Mark gave out during his visit proudly displayed in is office.
Mark was an enthusiastic champion of the programs and initiatives the Department of Labor implemented and supported while he as Commissioner. He was especially proud of the Safety Pays® and Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) initiatives.
His drive and dedication to the Department of Labor and to Oklahoma will be greatly missed. Once more, everyone at Southern Machine Works extends our deepest condolences to Mark’s wife Cathy and everyone in his immediate and extended family. You have touched the lives of many and you will be missed many.
