Here are some general guidelines to help assess fit capability with our equipment:
Prismatic Part Machining Range (x,y,z):
Minimum: 1″ x 1″ x 1″
Maximum: 88″ x 25″ x 30″
Cylindrical Part Machining Range (OD x length):
Minimum: 1″ OD x 1″ long
Maximum: 20″ OD x 60″ long
Materials We Machine
At SMW, we have over 55+ years of machining and materials experience. We have the ability to machine from bar stock, forgings, or castings. We have expertise in machining low, medium, and high carbon steels; stainless steel, tool steels; and many aerospace materials including Aluminum, Titanium, and other high-strength low density materials. We can also machine most bronze and brass materials. On a case-by-case basis, we also can machine some plastic materials. Heat Treat & Finishing Processes We Offer
Over the decades, SMW has carefully curated supply chain partners who have proven their ability to provide secondary post processes for heat treat and final finish/coating of machined parts. SMW takes the lead role in driving compliance oversight within our supply chain partners to ensure they meet the necessary compliance requirements for ITAR, DFARS, FFL/SOT, NADCAP, and similar regulatory requirements. To this end, SMW is able to supply parts to its customers that are complete and ready to go into final assembly at the OEM.
