December 2020 – Southern Machine Works (SMW) is pleased to announce our latest new equipment acquisition.   SMW has purchased and installed a MAZAK HCN-4000 Horizontal Machining Center  – please see attached document.  Thanks to the continuous support and trust of our customers, we were pleased to make this $400,000+ investment to improve efficiency and lead-times for our customers milled prismatic part needs.  To see a video of the HCN-4000 in action click here.   Let SMW put this high-precision HMC to work on your next milled part projects requiring high-production output.

April 2020 – An automotive OEM customer had been routinely purchasing a Torque Limiter Assembly from Southern Machine Works (SMW) that required a combination of off-the-shelf (OTS) purchased components and custom-machined parts. The inner and outer gears were OTS purchased parts, and each had slow delivery times – often as long as 12 weeks.  SMW records showed that each time these gears were re-ordered, the vendor had increased the price.   SMW’s challenge was to continue to supply the completed Torque Limiter Assembly to our OEM customer at a fixed negotiated price – without any price increases.
